ABOUT COOKIES AND THE BLUEPRINT IT

WHAT IS A COOKIE?

A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie or browser cookie, is a small file of letters and numbers downloaded on to your computer when you access websites. It is stored in a file on a user's computer and allow a website to recognise that computer. A cookie itself does not contain or collect information. However, it can help a website deliver a more user-friendly service - for example, remembering previous purchases or account details. A cookie typically contains:

·       The name of the server the cookie was sent from

·       The lifetime of the cookie

·       A value - usually a randomly generated unique number

The website server which sends the cookie uses this number to recognise you when you return to a site or browse from page to page. Only the server that sent a cookie can read, and therefore use, that cookie.

The Blueprint IT also sets tracking cookies from some online advertisements and some partner's sites.

A. Cookies from online advertisements
A 3rd party non-essential/non-intrusive cookie with one year expiration date.
You will see that many online advertisements include the AdChoices icon. If you click on the icon in the advertisement and it takes you directly to this page the advertisement will have been delivered by The Blueprint IT and you will have had a The Blueprint IT tracking cookie set on your browser.
To opt-out of tracking by The Blueprint IT you need to accept our opt-out cookie by clicking 'Click here to opt-out' on
The Blueprint IT's opt-out page. If you delete this cookie you may start to be tracked again. Alternatively, you can opt-out of tracking by The Blueprint IT by visiting the IAB's Your Online Choices website.

B. Cookies set from The Blueprint IT partners
A 3rd party non-essential/non-intrusive cookie with one year expiration date.
The Blueprint IT has partnerships with websites for the purposes of providing advertising. These websites may also set The Blueprint IT tracking cookies in your browser. If this is the case then the website is required to mention this on the site and provide a link to the relevant opt-out page for The Blueprint IT tracking.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I OPT-OUT?

Opting out of interest-based ads does not mean you will no longer receive online ads. It means that when you visit a website, The Blueprint IT will no longer be able to deliver ads to you that are tailored to your interests, or to limit the number of times you see the same ad on different web pages. As a result, you may start to see the same ad over and over again and/or see ads that have no relevance to you at all. I addition, cookies are used to count the number of advertisement seen by each user and can help to keeping online ads non intrusive by making sure the user doesn't see the same ad too often.
